Should You Take It?

Hello!  I’m here to give you a quick review on English 1101.

·         If you want to see your writings blossom, you should take this course.  This course WILL show you how to expand your essays.

·         This class is easy yet challenging.  It’s not one or the other.  If you stay on top of your assignments you’ll do fine.  The writing component isn’t hard.  It just takes a little more thinking than usual.

·         Always do your work ahead of time and make sure it is the best it can be.  This isn’t a class you can procrastinate.  This also isn’t a class where you can write about random topics and expect a good grade.

·         This class has a reliable instructor, Professor Arrington.  Professor Arrington is dedicated to her job and her students.  She is always in the library after class during her office hours for extra help.  GO SEE HER.  She will tell you the truth and is straight to the point.  She is fun.  Having Professor Arrington as a teacher WILL improve your works.

·         This class is “different” from other classes.  You will think about how you write in ways you never have.  It IS challenging and it will seem bothersome, but the end result is very beneficial.

·         This course, taught by Professor Arrington, will change how you go about thinking when you write.  You will learn new things.  You will come out of this course the same way I have, thankful.

Change of Plans!

·         There has been a change of plans for my adventure situation.  I have chosen to pursue an assimilative adventure or an experience that entails migrating to a foreign place, the adventurer feels anxious or nervous, and the learning of a new fact or concept.

·         Because of my lack of funds and time, I changed my adventure.  Instead of going camping in Southern Georgia, I will venture to a land of which I’ve never come in contact with because of my personal preferences, Medieval Times.

·          Medieval Times is basically a dinner with a reenactment of medieval times.

·         On any other occasion I would immediately refuse to do anything involving medieval times; but since this is for the sake of my assimilative adventure, I must.

·         On Friday, October 21, 2011 at 8:00 P.M. I will start my adventure.  I plan to attend the show either with my friend or with my father.

·         The cost of this adventurer is much cheaper.  The ticket will be about 55 dollars.  I save about 200 dollars doing this adventure instead of the trip to Southern Georgia.

·         For my documentation I will take pictures and make videos of my experiences at Medieval Times.  All I need to take with me is my cell phone.

·         This adventure is truly an assimilative adventure for “me” because I dislike the medieval period compared to other time periods.  Why you ask?  Everyone dressed funny back then and how they lived didn’t make sense to me.  Hopefully this adventure will help me learn new things about the time period and change my mind.

·         Experiencing the Medieval Times show entails migrating to a foreign place, it makes me feel uneasy, and I know I will learn something about medieval times.

Campventure

Campventure

People that are close to me always tell me that I love the indoors too much; so when I told them I had to take an adventure for class they went crazy.  I’m not sure of the exact date but we decided that I would go camping for a weekend.  I’m going to camp in South Georgia with a friend that also hasn’t been camping.  This is considered an environmental adventure because:
·         I’m being forced out of my environment temporarily.
·         I’ve never been to that part of Georgia, especially its woods.
·         I HATE going in the woods.
·         I won’t be in full control of the situation while I’m camping.
·         I have to assimilate into the camping environment to survive.

How Will I Plan n’ Prepare For This Campventure?
1.       Call some parks in South Georgia.
2.       Do reviews on those parks to see if they have any weird pasts!(Seen too many horror movies)
3.       Gather what I need. (Tent, sleeping bag, etc.)
4.       Bring food and water.
5.       Take off on the week I choose(Not sure when)

Documentation!
·         I will take plenty of pictures.
·         I will make short documentary videos.
·         I will keep a diary.

Adventure of Payne

It’s pretty much everyone’s dream to go on an adventure.  From the time you’re a child, adventure consumes your imagination.  Simply put, an adventure is an activity that is somewhat foreign to an individual and has an unknown ending.  Adventures don’t have to be life-threatening.  Adventures don’t even need to teach a lesson.  Look at the hit movie The Hangover.  The characters obviously didn’t learn a lesson from that adventure because there is a sequel, The Hangover 2.  It was still an adventure though.  Adventures are meant to be beneficial but aren’t always.
When I was a child, I used to despise needles.  Needles and I were enemies and I didn’t want to be anywhere near them.  One day, my older sister, whom I looked up to so much, picked me up from a daycare.  Once we were in the car, I assumed we were going straight home, until she parked in a completely different place.  This place was unknown to me, but I got out and went in just like any other kid.  My sister led the way as we went to a room with a nurse in it.  The nurse left after giving me a normal checkup and minutes later, a doctor came in.  The doctor didn’t waste any time and slammed the needle onto the table.  I was calm until I was informed what the needle was actually for.  My eyes were dilated from the shock of the needle’s purpose and my sister’s betrayal!  I wasn’t going to let this ordeal take place.  The doctor tried to stick the needle in my arm slowly.  I went crazy and wouldn’t allow the doctor to take any of my blood without a fight.  He eventually had to call in more doctors to tame me.  My sister was laughing hysterically.  The doctors, after wrestling with me, got the needle inside my arm.  It hurt at first but not as bad as I had imagined it to be.  The doctors apologized and gave me some stickers along with a lollipop.  I later forgave my sister.
Being a naïve child made that experience foreign to me, thus making it an adventure for me.  This isn’t an adventure for everyone.  This experience is an adventure specifically for people who haven’t experienced their first shot and kids in general.  The reason this is an adventure is because you don’t know the outcome due to lack of that specific experience.
Getting a shot won’t be an adventure for someone experienced with shots or someone that just doesn’t care about what happens to them.  If you are used to an activity, the thrill can get old and you don’t see it as a big deal because you know the outcome due to prior experiences.
In conclusion, adventures are activities we are unfamiliar with.  Learning a lesson is not necessary and doesn’t always happen.  Adventures can either end with a good ending or a bad ending; either way, adventures are just another part of our lives as beings.
